New Industry Standards Could Ease Type Certification Complexity for eVTOL Aircraft
The volunteer committees of groups such as SAE International, ASTM, and Eurocae are establishing standards that plug gaps in how regulators can certify aircraft.

In many cases, new eVTOL aircraft, like Wisk's Cora design, use the rotors of their propulsion system as a critical element in the flight controls, making it hard for them to be assessed for type certification in the same way as existing fixed-wing aircraft or rotorcraft. (Photo: Wisk)
